Aikido UK Grading and Course May 2008

On Saturday 24th May a Dan grading course was held at Barrhead Sports Centre and with a total of 6 students successfully sitting their examinations; the event was a great success.

The grading also marked a special milestone for our Kelvin Hall club as it gained its first Dan grades, both of whom were a credit to their teacher Sensei Richard Firestone.

The turn out for both the grading and the course that followed was excellent - with students from all of our UK clubs in attendance.

Congratulations are due to everyone who passed their grading and to their teachers whose skill and dedication is reflected in their students' success.

Special thanks should go to Sensei Andrew - President of Aikido UK, the grading examiners, and to everyone who took part for helping to make the day the great success it was.

Aikido UK Grading and Course March 2008

On Saturday 15th March a highly successful Kyu grading course was held at Barrhead Sports Centre.

The day started with the Kyu grading itself which went very well - all involved can agree that the standard of Aikido was high with all those taking part passing their respective examinations. Following the grading, the course, taught by Sensei Andrew was also a great success - as always it was a chance to practice something a little different and was thoroughly enjoyed by all.

The turn out for both was excellent with students from all of our UK clubs in attendance - making it an event not to miss!

Congratulations are due for everyone who passed their grading and also to everyone who helped them prepare.

Special thanks should go to Sensei Andrew - President of Aikido UK, the grading examiners, and to everyone who took part for helping to make the day the success it was.

Aikido UK Junior Grading March 2008

A Junior grading was held this March, giving our younger members a chance to show off their skills.

The turn out was good with a total of 25 Juniors sitting their grading examinations at Parklands Country Club, 8 from our Barrhead class and 17 from Parklands.

All involved agreed that the standard of those graded was very high and this was reflected in the fact that everyone passed their respective gradings. The grading itself was conducted by Sensei Richard Firestone, assisted by Sensei David Gladstone.

Congratulations are due to everyone who passed their grading, to their teacher, to the grading officers, and to everyone who helped make this event a great success. Special thanks should also go to the parents of all our Junior members for their continued support.

Special Recognition to Sensei Andrew from Rolls-Royce

On Wednesday the 14th of November Sensei Andrew was awarded with a Special Recognition from Rolls-Royce, the company he has been a part of for 21 years. The following is an extract from the award:

"The Special Recognition Award is given to individuals who have achieved something specific in their lifetime that deserves to be acknowledged.

This achievement does not necessarily have to be connected to Rolls-Royce or the engineering industry.

It is important to praise those individuals who take the Company's values and behaviours into everything that they do in their lives.

This award recognises the outstanding effort that individuals have made through their own commitment and motivation without additional support from the Company.

These people in particular are unsung heroes."
