June this year opened with another grading, this time for our younger members.
Parklands Country Club was the venue and a total of 35 students sat their grading there, 17 from our Barrhead Dojo and 18 from our Parklands Dojo.
The grading itself was overseen by Sensei David Gladstone, assisted by Sensei Richard Firestone - who both spoke highly of everyone who was graded. This praise was well deserved as all those put forward passed their respective gradings, which ranged from 5th Kyu all the way up to and including 3rd Kyu.
Congratulations are due to everyone who passed their grading, to their teacher, to the grading officers, and to everyone who helped make this event a great success. Special thanks should also go to the parents of all our Junior members for their support in making this grading the great success it was.
This year's summer grading and course were both held in Barrhead Sports Centre and each was an outstanding success, with all those put forward for grading passing their respective examinations before taking part in a thoroughly enjoyable course.
We were lucky this year to have two special guests from our Dojo in Canada, Sensei Bogdan Chivulescu and his student Jim Bowron both made the long journey over to Scotland so they could attend the course.
Special thanks should go to Sensei Andrew, President of Aikido UK and the grading examiners and also to everyone who helped their fellow students to prepare for their gradings.
Congratulations are in order for Sensei Chivulescu for passing his 3rd Dan examination.
