Sensei Andrew is the President and Technical Director of Aikido UK.

In 1973 at the age of 26 he began to study Aikido under Sensei Matt Tennant, who at that time was affiliated with Sensei Williams, President and Technical Director of the Ki Federation of Great Britain.

Sensei Andrew has also practised under Koichi Tohei Sensei founder of the Ki No Kenkyukai, and Koretoshi Maruyama Sensei founder of Aikido Yuishinkai.

After a few years he became Sensei Tennants' assistant teaching both Junior and Senior classes at East Kilbride Sports Centre, and also at Strathclyde University, Glasgow.

In 1981, under the encouragement of Sensei Tennant, he opened his first class at Barrhead Sports Centre and, after a few years, more dojos were opened.

Sensei Andrew became a Senior Teacher and Executive Committee Member with the Ki Federation of Great Britain and was certified to teach Ki Aikido in any of their Dojos in the UK and abroad. Sensei Andrew was awarded 6th Dan from the Ki Federation of Great Britain in 1994.

Resigning from the Ki Federation in May 2000, he formed Aikido UK, which is a non-profit making organisation. Its aims are to cultivate and develop the co-ordination of mind and body using the principles of Ki.
